The purpose of the Art Club is to enhance our visual environment and to learn about the roles that art plays in our lives. The club serves not only the school but the community as well and is always looking for ways to improve our environment. The purpose is to introduce students to new media and to explore personal interests as well as prepare students for careers in art and an outlet for positive self expression.
Monroeton’s Art Club will give fourth and fifth grade students an opportunity to work collaboratively on projects which may remain within our school as permanent displays. The club offers its members numerous opportunities for socialization as well as gaining experience working with and using art materials and resources. This is a voluntary organization, disruptive or disagreeable behavior will result in dismissal from this club. All school rules will be enforced. A passion for art is required, but talent is optional.
Drama club is open to all students who are in the 3rd through 5th grades. Drama club meets on Thursdays until 3:45pm. Students have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of theater including backstage, lights, music, and acting.
The purpose of the Ecology Club is to encourage a positive attitude about the area in which we live and promote the understanding that it is everyone's job to keep our community healthy. Students must be willing to work hard and be an active part of making the environment a safe and healthy place for all creatures to live. This requires a commitment to attend each monthly meeting, and taking part in all of the activities planned to improve our school's natural habitat.
Students will also be expected to continue their commitment to the environment during the times between meetings. This will be accomplished by completing projects, cleaning up around their own homes, and encouraging others to take care of our community. Students will be asked to get outside and get dirty, so proper dress will be required on our scheduled meeting dates. We want all of the Ecology Club members to have a positive experience that they can continue to make a part of the rest of their lives.
Intramural Volleyball League
Monroeton's Intramural Volleyball League is open to students in 4th and 5th grade. The purpose of the Volleyball League is to give students an opportunity to be physically active while competing in a friendly, structured environment. In addition, it affords students the opportunity to experience comradery and improve their skills while competing against and along side equally skilled players. Mr. Wray operates one league in the fall and one in the spring. An All Star team is selected and travels to play other elementary schools in the area. Come out and watch the kids play!
